about

Native Drumming features the brilliant Northern-style pow-wow voices of Black Lodge, one of the all-time top drum groups of North America, accompanied by one of best band ensembles in the U.S., the Arizona State University Wind Symphony lead by nationally-honored conductor, Gary W. Hill. Matching the vocal power and intense drumming of Black Lodge with the musical range and aural richness of the Wind Symphony’s 75 members (45 woodwinds, 20 brass, 8 drummers and percussionists, basses, and piano), Native Drumming is the first to effectively integrate pow-wow singing and drumming with classical music forms and instruments into an authentically, exciting musical experience.
